Customised Ultra-Bright Lightbox

Signs Brisbane were contacted by Tom Dooley Developments to help produce two custom light boxes for the sales office of a prestigious residential development in the Skyring area of Newstead.

The concept was clear and uncomplicated, but sizing was a challenge. The customer requested two 2.4m x 2.4m illuminated signboxes, with illuminated text as well as lit feature edges. Standard sheet sizes were 2.4m x 1.2m so this would prove to be an issue.

We devised a plan to construct a lightweight yet sturdy 25mm x 25mm SHS frame and fold router cut Aluminium Composite Panels around the panel. This would give the clean flat gloss black look the customer wanted, whilst still staying within substrate size limitations. There would be a join, but this would be hidden by the illuminated text.

External ultra-bright LED lighting was fixed to backing boards and angles carefully placed around the internal steel frame. The folded faces were then installed over the framework. The faces had router cut out lettering for laser cut opal acrylic lettering to be fixed in place standing proud of the ACM on two levels.

Powder-coated aluminium angle trims were added to the external sides to add a clean finished line whilst also adding further rigidity to the structure.

The finished product was an icon to reflect the build quality and finish expected from one of Brisbanes most exemplary based Developers.
